For nearly 3 decades Dr Hornebrger has been involved in clinical, educational and research endeavors related to fetal and neonatal cardiovascular health and disease. She has published nearly 190 peer-reviewed articles and co-authored textbooks in the clinical and fundamental sciences focused on the early diagnosis, evolution, management and outcomes of fetal and neonatal heart disease. Through strategic collaborations, her research has spanned clinical, population, health services and basic science pillars. She has also directed 4 internationally recognized fetal and neonatal cardiology programs, the last of which is at the University of Alberta where her program performs over 2300 fetal echo exams annually, and trains 2-3 subspecialty fellows in fetal and neonatal cardiology.
